What is PURPA?<\/h2>\n
The Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978<\/a> (PURPA) was enacted to encourage renewable resources for electric generation and electricity conservation as a response to the 1970s energy crisis. What Cowlitz County PUD is doing to comply<\/h2>\n
